there is a queue of wallpapers that show on the site. Usually two a day. I dont know if you can tell but everything I get these days is a submission. I literally got queued up until may of this year at one point doing just one wallpaper a day. We changed up to two wallpapers a day and thats been working well so far.

Thats why we encourage everyone to share their wallpapers on the forums. Until we can come up with a decent solution that benefits a daily updated site and a constant flow of wallpapers.

Just so you know both of your wallpapers are queued up to show up on April 27(ultimate xp) and March 4(this wallpaper).

Yes, I understand this, but surely, wouldn't a PHP based script make it easier and faster than client based?
It would save all of you lots of work, perhaps hire some moderators to check out wallpapers at scheduled days of the month?
Is it not easier to just eliminate bad wallpapers that enfringe any rules, rather than checking beforehand for every single wallpaper?

well to answer your suggestions in order.

1) this is a php based script. So if you have a particular one that weeds out bad wallpapers please let me know. I'd be very interested to buy it.

2) Well the scope of this site is to release wallpapers in a consistent and of high quality manner. So to keep with the already standing tradition of new high quality wallpapers on a daily basis, one of two things would have to happen. 1- we would need to have daily submissions of high quality wallpapers. This doesn't happen already, and mostly due to people not submitting the right file type or the size is incorrect. Then it also happens that people dont submit high quality works at times. I could be much more strict on high quality, but I do attempt to release something. 2- The second option would be to hire designers and have them make wallpapers on a daily basis. This is extremely expensive and not something I plan to do at any time soon.

3) Your question doesnt make sense. Its easy to eliminate wallpapers to a certain extent. But yes i have to physically look at every single one. This criteria comes to mind: Is it a nude photo?(the most commonly ignored rule) Does it fill the whole image size?(often times its too small or too big) Is is a high quality image?(again I get more bad quality images than I'd like to see) Is the image going to infringe on any copyrights? Is there even an image?(often times I get a blank screen).

We try our best to accomodate your needs. But as a two man operation. It just doesnt happen. We strive to keep the tradition and quality that this site has had since it started.

We have created the recent addition of subscribers being able to upload and have their images posted immediately. We will still moderate those images, but they will be posted right away. We plan to add even more options over the coming weeks for paid subscribers and even a few new ones for regular members.

Not sure about how wallpapers could be filtered, I understand you are going for quality instead of quantity, so perhaps you could allow only a certain ammount of wallpapers per day, that could be relatively easy to code, I can't say i'm a PHP expert, it confuses the hell outta me, but any CSS, HTML, Javascript ect.. I'm ok with, less OK with Javascript, more CSS/HTML orintated, anyways, that would allow ample time for the moderators to check the latest wallpapers (perhaps 5 a day?) and either approve them or disaprove them.
  I'm sure that can be done easily, may I ask, was it the admin of this site who coded it or was it an outside development?

hmmm... Size of the picture wouldn't be that hard to code, but quality and visual aspects.. now thats tricky.. perhaps only accept PNG images?
I have to say PNG is my favourite image format, its the quality of Bitmap, but about the size of a JPG.

Some tards still use paint to convert into JPG i bet  , but besides the point:

Well I have to be completely honest, I don't really sell PHP scripts, as i am crap at PHP  , but my mum codes PHP, shes really good at PHP, she would be glad to talk if you would possibly want some coding...

Oh yeah and if you want any skins for the forum in CSS i can do that quite easily, its phpBB right?

Hey Hellfire.
I myself have coded the whole site. Its based heavily on the wordpress cms. I have done a lot of work to build it out as its own thing though.

As far as PNG's and GIF's for uploads, for some reason we have constantly ran into problems with the PHP cropper and working with PNG and GIF files. Things turn out distorted and the quality tends to take a drop. For now we're sticking with JPG. As always youre welcome to post other types in the forums here.

Sifting through the wallpapers isnt so difficult that I need more people to go through them. As it is I and one other person sift through all the wallpapers. I'd say it gets done in a fairly decent manner. We have implmented some cool features to combat the wait times, for instance in your profile you will now be able to see what wallpapers are pending being shown and what recent wallpapers you have posted to the site. Its still being tweaked, but it should give plenty of info. Everyone who registers on this has an account profile page.
